The SLIM1 transcription factor is required for arsenic resistance in Arabidopsis thaliana

چکیده

The transcriptional regulators of arsenic-induced gene expression remain largely unknown. Sulfur assimilation is tightly linked with arsenic detoxification. Here, we report that mutant alleles in the SLIM1 transcription factor are substantially more sensitive to than cadmium. Arsenic treatment caused high levels oxidative stress slim1 mutants, and were impaired both thiol accumulation sulfate accumulation. We further found enhanced roots mutants. Transcriptome analyses indicate an important role for tolerance mechanisms. present study identifies as essential component expression. Our results suggest severe sensitivity mutants by altered redox status.

A "Whirly" transcription factor is required for salicylic acid-dependent disease resistance in Arabidopsis.

Transcriptional reprogramming is critical for plant disease resistance responses; its global control is not well understood. Salicylic acid (SA) can induce plant defense gene expression and a long-lasting disease resistance state called systemic acquired resistance (SAR). Plant-specific "Whirly" DNA binding proteins were previously implicated in defense gene regulation. We demonstrate that the ...

Transcription factor ZBP-89 is required for STAT1 constitutive expression.

IFNgamma is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that potentiates p53-independent apoptosis in a variety of cell types. STAT1 is the primary mediator of IFNgamma action. ZBP-89 is a transcription factor that binds to the G/C-rich elements and mediates p53-independent apoptosis. In this study, site-directed mutagenesis revealed that a G-rich element from +171 to +179 within the first intron of the STAT1 ...

Evidence that transcription factor IIB is required for a post-assembly step in transcription initiation.

Mutation of glutamate 62 to lysine in yeast transcription factor (TF) IIB (Sua7) causes a cold-sensitive phenotype. This mutant also leads to preferential transcription of downstream start sites on some promoters in vivo. To explore the molecular nature of these phenotypes, the TFIIB E62K mutant was characterized in vitro. The mutant interacts with TATA-binding protein normally. In three differ...

the search for the self in becketts theatre: waiting for godot and endgame

this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...

Transcription factor Foxd1 is required for the specification of the temporal retina in mammals.

The organization of the visual system is different in birds and mammals. In both, retinal axons project topographically to the visual targets in the brain; but whereas in birds visual fibers from the entire retina decussate at the optic chiasm, in mammals, a number of axons from the temporal retina diverge at the midline to project ipsilaterally. Gain-of-function experiments in chick raised the...
